Antivirus Test | Test your Antivirus if it is working

Ok, so you have an antivirus setup in your system for quite some time, you never had any alerts whatsoever regarding Virus attacks. The thing is, it's either you are really lucky that you are never exposed to virus infection OR your Antivirus is compromised and not working!

So how do you check to make sure that your Antivirus is working the way it should be? It would be very dangerous to directly expose yourself to virus just to check it right?

Fortunately, there is a way to do this safely. We are going to use a test file that has a string very well known to Antivirus software.

What you need to do is copy this code below and paste it in notepad then save it as an .html or .com file.

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

If your Antivirus is working properly, it will not let you save the file and prompt you for an infected file. Normally it is indicated in the description that it's an EICAR Virus Test file.

You can also try different tests using the test file by visiting their site EICAR and try downloading the files in different extensions and compression levels.

Hope this helps and safe computing!
